Privacy Policy
Measured ("we," "us") is operated by Measured LLC, a limited liability company registered in Washington, D.C., United States. This policy explains what information we collect, where it lives, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do about it.
The short version
- You don't have an account. Measured has no login, no password, and no user database. We can't look you up, because there is nothing to look up.
- Your training data is yours. It lives on your device and in your own private iCloud. We cannot read it.
- Apple Health data never leaves your device. We never send it to our servers, to our AI provider, or to our analytics.
- Our AI never sees who you are. When it adapts your program it receives your training answers and any limitation you flagged, as a category label such as "knee". It never receives your name, birthday, gender, email, or any Apple Health data.
- We don't sell your data and we don't advertise to you.
1. What the app collects
What you tell us
During setup, and whenever you change your settings, the app records:
- Your first name, used only to greet you in the app.
- Your date of birth and gender, if you provide them. These tune your heart-rate zones and size your suggested starting weights.
- Your training profile: goal, experience level, where you train, the equipment you own, how many days a week you can train, and how long each session can be.
- Any physical limitations you flag (for example "knee" or "lower back"), which the app uses to avoid prescribing movements that commonly aggravate that area.
What the app records as you train
- Your workouts and logged sets: exercises, weights, reps, and your effort rating for each exercise.
- Your progression state: the weights the app has calibrated for you.
- Body weight and body-fat entries, if you record them.
- Any programs you build yourself, and any exercise substitutions you choose.
Apple Health
Only with your permission, Measured reads your body weight, body-fat percentage and resting heart rate from Apple Health to chart your progress; the Apple Watch app also reads your heart rate during a workout to show live BPM. Measured writes your finished workouts and active energy back to Apple Health.
Apple Health data never leaves your device. It is never sent to our servers, to our AI provider, or to our analytics, and it is never used for advertising. You can revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.
2. Where your data lives
Everything in section 1 is stored on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, synced to your own private iCloud account so it follows you between your devices. That is Apple's private database. We have no access to it. There is no Measured server holding your training history, and no account for us to open.
3. AI personalization
When the app builds or adapts a program for you, it sends a limited request to our server (hosted on Cloudflare), which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude API to generate the adaptation.
What is sent: your goal, experience level, the equipment you own, the physical limitations you flagged (as category labels such as "knee"), which program you chose, your starting week, your estimated starting weights, and your logged training history (exercise, weight, reps, and effort).
What is never sent: your name, date of birth, gender, email, or any Apple Health data.
The AI works within a structured, validated program template. It adapts that template to you and it does not invent your program from nothing. Its substitutions are checked against rules built into the app, and any substitution for an area you flagged is shown to you before your program starts. The weights and reps you train with are set by the app on your device, not by the AI.
4. Analytics and diagnostics
To understand how the app is used and to find crashes, we collect a limited, anonymous event stream. It is not linked to your identity. We never identify you to our analytics provider, because we don't know who you are.
These events record things like: the app was opened; a workout was started or completed (with its duration and number of sets); setup finished (with your experience level, equipment type, chosen program and availability); a paywall was shown; a trial started. They also record when the app substitutes an exercise, together with the reason. One of those reasons is "injury", alongside the muscle group involved. So our analytics can show that an anonymous user had a movement swapped for a limitation they flagged. It never records which limitation, your weights, any Apple Health data, or anything that identifies you.
We also collect crash reports: device model, OS version, and what the app was doing when it failed.
5. Subscriptions
Subscriptions are purchased through Apple and managed for us by RevenueCat. We never see or store your payment details. We receive only your subscription status.
6. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information for money. On this website we use the Meta Pixel, which shares limited browsing activity with Meta to gauge interest and build advertising audiences. Under some state privacy laws this counts as "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising, and you can opt out of it (see section 9). Apart from that, we share information only with the service providers below, and only so that they can provide their service to us:
| Provider | What it handles | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Apple | iCloud sync of your own data; App Store purchases; Apple Health (on device) | United States / global |
| Anthropic | AI program adaptation (the request in section 3) | United States |
| Cloudflare | Our server, which passes AI requests through | Global |
| RevenueCat | Subscription status | United States |
| PostHog | Anonymous usage analytics | United States |
| Sentry | Crash and error reports | United States |
| Kit (kit.com) | Our email list (website only) | United States |
| Netlify | Hosting for liftmeasured.com | Global |
| Meta (Facebook) | Website advertising pixel: audience building and ad measurement (website only) | United States |
We may also disclose information if we are legally required to, or to protect our rights or someone's safety.
7. The website
If you join our email list at liftmeasured.com, we collect your email address, your first name (optional), and basic source information about how you reached us (referring site, and campaign tags in the link you clicked). We use it to tell you when Measured launches and to send occasional updates. Our host may log standard technical data such as IP address and browser type. The site uses the Meta Pixel, an advertising and analytics cookie from Meta that records your page views so we can gauge interest and, later, reach visitors with ads on Meta platforms. It does not receive your name or email from the website. We honour the Global Privacy Control browser signal, so the Pixel does not run for visitors whose browser sends it, and you can also opt out as described in section 9. You can unsubscribe from any email.
8. How long we keep it
- App data stays on your device and in your iCloud until you delete it. Delete the app and remove its iCloud data and it is gone. We hold no copy.
- AI requests are processed by Anthropic to generate your program. Anthropic automatically deletes them within 30 days and does not use them to train its models. Our own server passes these requests through and keeps no copy of them.
- Analytics and crash reports are retained by our providers for their standard periods: analytics events by PostHog for 1 year, and crash reports by Sentry for 30 days.
- Email-list data is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
- Meta Pixel data is held and used by Meta under its own data policy. You can limit it through your Meta ad settings and the opt-out in section 9.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent. If you are in the EEA or UK, our legal bases are performance of a contract (running the app you subscribed to), legitimate interests (keeping the app working and understanding usage in aggregate), and consent (Apple Health access, which you grant and can revoke at any time). If you are in California, we do not sell your personal information for money. Our website's Meta Pixel does "share" limited browsing activity for cross-context behavioural advertising as the CPRA defines it, and you can opt out: our site honours the Global Privacy Control browser signal, and you can also opt out by emailing us at privacy@liftmeasured.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
A practical note: because Measured has no accounts, most of your data is under your direct control rather than ours. You can delete all of it yourself, without asking us: delete the app, then remove its iCloud data in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage. To exercise a right over data we do hold (the email list, analytics, crash reports), email us below.
10. International transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers process data in the United States. Measured is currently offered only in stores where we operate, and if you use it your information is handled in the United States. We keep as little as we can: your training data stays on your device and in your own iCloud, and the only information that reaches our providers is described in sections 3 to 7.
11. Security
Your training data is protected by your device's encryption and by your iCloud account. Requests to our server are sent over HTTPS and are authenticated. No system is perfectly secure, but we hold as little as we can, which is the strongest protection we can offer you.
12. Children
Measured is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email.
